The mission of the Personal Training Program is to assist Students, Faculty, and Staff at Truman State University with reaching their fitness potential and improving their quality of life through physical activity and healthy habits.
Your Personal Trainer will be a Truman State University student with at least one semester of experience working in the Student Recreation Center. Our Personal Trainers possess a national certification in addition to successfully completing our “in-house” training.
The Personal Trainer Program offers fitness assessments and consultations to help develop a personalized fitness program for individuals of all fitness levels. Sample goals from past clients are listed below:
Having a personal trainer will assist in your focus, accountability, and overall knowledge of how to exercise and rehabilitate the body without injury.
The fitness assessment is approximately 45 – 60 minutes and intended to help establish baseline fitness levels. Knowing your current fitness level will help your personal trainer develop a specific exercise program to enable you to achieve your health and fitness goals. The following areas may be assessed:

Payments are made to Truman State University and submitted at the Member Services Desk before personal training sessions are to begin. Personal Trainers cannot begin training sessions until full payment is made. We only accept CASH or CHECK and you will be asked to show your Truman ID card.
If an individual is not a Campus Recreation Personal Trainer employed by the Student Recreation Center, written approval is required from the Fitness-Wellness Director to conduct personal training in the Student Recreation Center.
