Locker Guidelines
(as adopted by the Recreation Center Advisory Committee in August
1997; revised January 1999)
GENERAL:
- There are 96 half-lockers and 14 full lockers in each locker
room (men’s and women's).
- Lockers #2 and #57 are reserved for wheelchair patrons.
- The locker room must be vacated by closing time.
DAY LOCKERS:
- Half lockers #1 through #55 and all full lockers are to be
utilized for day use only. No overnight storage of items is
permitted.
- Combination locks are provided.
- No "private locks" are allowed.
- Vacant or unlocked half-lockers #56 through #110 may not be
used as day lockers.
- A member may check a lock out with their Truman ID from the
Member Services Desk in order to use a day locker during his/her
use of the Student Recreation Center. An affiliated member may
check a lock out with their Student Recreation Center ID from
the Member Services Desk in order to use a day locker during
his/her use of the Student Recreation Center. A person admitted
with a daily guest pass may check a lock out from the Member
Services Desk using his/her Driver’s License or other State ID
as collateral in order to use a day locker during his/her use of
the Student Recreation Center.
- Locks left on day lockers overnight will be removed and/or
cut off and the contents of the locker impounded. A fee of $5.00
will be charged for an individual to reclaim his/her locker
contents.
- Renters of half-lockers may move their belongings to a full
locker and use their lock to secure their belongings in the full
locker while utilizing the Student Recreation Center. The
belongings and lock must be returned to their half-locker
immediately after use.
- Inappropriate use of a "private lock" or a lock checked out
from the Member Services Desk on an otherwise rented half-locker
may result in the removal of that lock and impoundment of the
locker contents. A fee of $5.00 will be charged for an
individual to reclaim his/her contents.
LOCKER RENTALS:
- Any regular or affiliated member may rent a half-locker by
the semester or annually.
- Combination locks are provided.
- No "private locks" are allowed.
- Renters of half-lockers may move their belongings to a full
locker and use their lock to secure their belongings in the full
locker while utilizing the Student Recreation Center. The
belongings and lock must be returned to their half-locker
immediately after use.
-
Semester half-locker rentals are valid from the first day of
class of a semester, throughout the semester, and end on
Graduation Day for that semester. Locker contents should be
removed from the Student Recreation Center by Graduation
Day.
- Fall semester half-locker rentals are valid at the
start of classes after Freshman Week, and end on
Graduation Day in December.
- Spring semester half-locker rentals are valid at the
start of classes in January, and end on Graduation Day
in May.
- Summer semester half-locker rentals are valid at the
start of classes in May, and end on Graduation Day in
August.
- The renewal period for those lockers rented by the semester
will begin approximately three weeks prior to Graduation Day
each semester. Renewals must be completed by Graduation Day.
Half-locker rentals that are renewed do not need to be emptied,
and may be used over the semester break period during posted
open hours.
- Annual half-locker rentals are valid from the start of
classes after Freshman Week to summer semester Graduation the
following year. The renewal period for those lockers rented by
the year will begin approximately three weeks prior to
Graduation Day for the summer semester. Renewals must be
completed by summer Graduation Day. Half-locker rentals that are
renewed do not need to be emptied, and may be used over the
semester break period during posted open hours.
- There are periods during the year when the Student
Recreation Center may be closed and the lockers will be
inaccessible (e.g., December holiday period, weekends during
interim periods, holidays).
- If all lockers are rented, a waiting list for potential
locker renters will be kept. A new waiting list will be started
every fall semester. Assignments will be made by the Student
Recreation Center staff once the number of vacant lockers is
determined. Those assigned a locker will be notified at the
start of the next semester rental period and must pay for the
locker rental within the first five days of class. Failure to
pay within the specified time period results in removal of the
person’s name from the list and the locker assigned to the next
person on the waiting list.
LOCKER RENTAL FEES:
- Semester half-lockers rentals by any regular or affiliated
member: $10.00 per semester.
- Annual half-locker rentals by any regular or affiliated
member: $25.00 annually.
- There is no pro-ration of locker fees.
- There is no charge for day use of full lockers or unrented
half-lockers.
- Locker rentals/assignments are not transferable.
