Fitness Is The Target Everyday!
The mission of the F.I.T.T.E. Personal Training Program is to assist Students, Faculty and Staff at Truman State University with finding their fitness potential and to improve their quality of life through physical activity.
The F.I.T.T.E. Program offers fitness assessments and consultations to develop custom fitness programs for individuals and is highly recommended for beginning exercisers. The program will help participants incorporate the five F.I.T.T.E. components of a balanced workout program: Frequency, Intensity, Time, Type and Enjoyment.
This package includes a fitness assessment, development of a personalized fitness program and a workout orientation. The results of the fitness assessment, along with participant goals and preferences, will be utilized to provide guidelines for an exercise routine. During a 60 minute session a F.I.T.T.E. Trainer will provide participants with guidance on how to start a fitness program and how to use the exercise equipment. The best part of the program is...IT'S FREE for Students! Fees for Faculty/Staff will be posted soon.
The fitness assessment begins with an explanation of the program, paperwork and fitness testing to establish baseline fitness levels. Knowing participants' current fitness levels will help F.I.T.T.E. trainers develop a specific exercise program with the participants to enable them to achieve their health and fitness goals.
The fitness testing will last for approximately one hour. The test will evaluate the following areas:
After participants have completed the fitness assessment, a certified Personal Trainer will analyze the results and provide participants with a copy. Using those results, a personalized fitness program is created and tailored to meet each person's specific needs and preferences.
The last session of the Introduction to Fitness package is the workout orientation. During this session, your F.I.T.T.E. trainer will take you through your entire workout, showing you how to use the equipment and answering any questions you have.
F.I.T.T.E. program participants may schedule one hour sessions with an instructor to receive additional support with the use of free weights, selectorized machines and/or cardiovascular equipment.
Follow-up fitness assessments are recommended on a yearly basis for F.I.T.T.E. Program participants.
Your F.I.T.T.E. Trainer will be a Truman State University student with at least one semester of experience working in the Student Recreation Center weight room. Under direct supervision of a nationally certified personal trainer, your F.I.T.T.E Trainer will be with you throughout your journey to optimal fitness.
